Pork Burger Recipe

So was feeling a little bored and sick of the food sold around my house and I decided to get into the kitchen and unleash the domestic goddess within me! wahahaha. Since I don't really cook, decided to start off with a pork patty burger which is easy to make. Found the recipe online but made a little modifications to it to suit our taste.

Finely chopped white onion. I cut up one whole onion but you can vary the amount based on your taste.
 Finely chopped coriander
One egg which needs to be whisked. Will be added to the mixture later so that the patty will not fall apart
 Minced pork
 A small bit of salt
Black pepper. Seasoning can be varied based on your own taste.

Once you have gotten all the ingredients ready, just mix all the ingredients in a big bowl!

Since I am only making for my sis and I, I split the portion into two equal servings. I read online that it is advisable to create an indent in the middle of the patties because it prevents the patty from like ballooning up.
Decided to fry some potatoes to go along with my burger too. Just got to dice the potatoes into small cubes.

Once all your preparation is done, you can begin cooking! I chose to begin with the potatoes cos I wanted my burger to be hot and will then melt the cheese which I will put between the buns.
Add vegetable oil into the frying pan and once the oil has heated up, throw the potatoes in. Lay them out for about 3 minutes.
Flip the potatoes around after they have turned golden brown. Once the potatoes are completely brown and soft, take it out and place it on a piece of kitchen towel so that the excess oil will be absorbed. You can choose to add salt to your potatoes after but it tastes fine without it as well!
Once the patty is in, leave it for about 5 minutes. Due to the thickness of the patty it will take a while for the patty to cook. Try not to flip it over too quickly because since the patty is heavy, it may break apart. One of my patties fell apart because I flipped it too early. The one in picture is the other that remained intact but still a little out of shape because some parts broke off. :( The patties can be cooked longer because of its thickness and it tastes better when cooked longer. I cooked the patties for about 15 to 20 minutes.

While waiting for the patties to cook, butter the buns on both sides. For extra flavour, I grilled the buns for a while too so as to allow the butter to melt and seep into the bread. By grilling the buns, it made the bun crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside and the butter fragrance will spread within the bun too! Yum.

When the buns are done, add a piece of cheese to each bun. You can choose to add other vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers or lettuce etc but since I am not a huge fan of such veggies, none for me HAHA.

The final product! The taste is really better than it looks. And my sister said that it has the Singaporean taste to it hahaha.

It is really easy to cook and provides a very filling and satisfying meal with cheap and convenient ingredients! Haven't really cooked such proper meals in a long time and I think I have rediscovered the joy of grocery shopping alone and eating what you prepared. Maybe it is time for a new hobby!
