Week 2

Week 2 of school went pretty smoothly but somehow it just felt tiring. Either way, its finally the weekends! I really wish I am able to blog in school cos I really do have quite a bit of time in hall but I only have one USB cable at home which belongs to my sister :(

Anyway, I think I am finally starting to get into the momentum of school and yay its really time to rejoice. Finally!!! So on Tuesday, Val had her audition. Heard from the people in the room that she did pretty well so hopefully she will be able to make it through to the next round. Fingers crossed! So while waiting for Val, everyone got bored and of course we started snapping pictures hehehe

Learning how to #ootd with Azimah

Met up with Lao Zhang on Wednesday! This girl came all the way down to Pulau NTU to meet us just because she wanted to explore the school. hahaha. And obviously, for someone like her who doesn't eat at places with no aircon, no jap, no thai blahblahblah, Sihui and I thought the best place to bring her to was Pitchstop. Pitchstop it one of the few decent cafes in NTU and the food is also comparable to any cafes outside. It is no wonder that the queues are always so long especially during lunch and dinner hours!!

My Spicy Seafood Marinara in the middle, Sihui's carbonara on the right, and Lao Zhang's Aglio Olio on the left! Plus Caramel Ice Blended and Mocha Ice Blended.

Thought that the place was commendable because food was served quickly even during lunch hours and food still tasted yummy too. Price ranges from $8 and up though, slightly more expensive than normal school food but definitely worth it.

Following lunch, we headed back to nua in my hall and it was great catching up over a whole lot of things! Decided to head out for dinner later on in the evening at Jurong Point. Crystal Jade for dinner that night cos lao zhang was craving food from her hometown. Spent so much on food that day my heart was bleeding :'(

My usual choice when it comes to La Mian in Chinese restaurants
Me and the girls! :)

Was really looking forward to Friday because we are finally heading back to CJ!!!! Finally able to meet up with the amazing teachers back there and also able to eat the Fishy that we love so much during our JC days :) It was a pretty impromptu decision that Liting and I hastily came up with on Wednesday. Pretty hilarious because it only showed how fail Ram and I were when it comes to arranging for a date. We have talked about this for so long and it never works and when Liting comes in it is just like set in less than an hour.

It felt so good to be back because you are returning to a familiar place with familiar faces around. Always heartening to see the same teachers that really helped us so much during our JC times and it is so much fun catching up with them and reminiscing about our JC days hehe. Especially so if you get to hear things from their perspective it just makes it a whole lot funnier. So happy to finally have fishy and to see Miss Ana, Miss Nita and even Auntie Amy! Miss Nita just kept giving us hugs and emphasizing on how 08 will always be her favourite bunch. AWWW :')

The best fish soup ever, hands down. Nothing can beat Something Fishy. Omg looking at this picture just makes me want to eat it again. It should totally win like Best Canteen Food or something. This was the food that everyone fought for during our school days and their queue is ALWAYS crazy long.

With Miss Nita!!! She really helped our class a lot during our two years there and her level of commitment is just crazy high. Even in J2 when we were no longer under her, she was always there to help us with Econs whenever we need despite her own classes. One of the best teachers I have ever had and always thankful for her :)

Going back to CJ was definitely a great end to the week! The only bad thing was having to travel back to NTU later on for GESL which was really sian hahahaha. Just can't wait for GESL to be over because it really takes up a lot of time! :(
Our level of productivity during GESL

Happy that week 2 of school passed so quickly and that it was one enjoyable week! Woo! Can't wait for next week to come because it is finally CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!! Omg so excited I can hardly wait!!!

Random musings

So school finally started for me on Monday and things are starting to get busy! Moved back into hall and I am trying very hard to get into the momentum soon. My timetable for this semester is still pretty good and I have a free day on Wednesday too! So that's a relief. :) Although school is never the most appealing thing ever, it is still made fun with the company of my friends! Thankful for that :)

Since it was the first week of school and things are still pretty free, Sihui and I decided to make the most out of it and spent our #weeklydate outside. hehe always a great time with her because we love to meet up for good cheap food and we will eat a lot hahaha. Explored the newly opened West Gate and I really like that place! There are sooo many food places to choose from and they have a whole lot of variety! Although they do have a lot of Jap...  Settled dinner at Sushi Express and I thought it was totally worth it! Every plate of sushi there was only $1.50 and they even have free green tea for you to go along with it! But I think it depends though! My sister tried the one at City hall and she was complaining about the thinly sliced salmon. The one I had was really thick and sooo delicious. Slurppppppppppppppppppp.

Other than just meeting Sihui this week, I also finally met my favourite yalam in forever. Haven't met her in the longest time and she finally managed to pass me the souvenir she got me from Australia! It is always great catching up with her cos we have endless things to talk about and to be excited over woop.

On a side note, Val has finally decided to give the NIE Starlite a shot! So proud of her because she always liked singing and I am so excited to go support her during her competition :)

Anyway, on the day before school started, Ram and I were going into this I-miss-CJ mode when Jinyao decided to tweet me a picture of my CJ days.

Totally forgot about the existence of this until that day HAHA. This photo brings back so much memories and it just made me miss CJ more. This was taken during the period just before As during the weekend study sessions with the boys. Supposed to be a study session but omg seriously what on earth were we doing back then hahahaha. But still a bunch of good memories towards the last stretch of my JC life! Trying to fix a date with the girls to go back to CJ to visit some teachers and to eat our favourite Fishy hehe. So excited to meet those girls again!!!

By the way, I am actually offering tuition services hahaha. Weird way to be promoting myself over here but I have kinda given up hope on those agencies who are not exactly getting back to me :( So anyway I am offering tuition services for Primary school children especially English. Science and Math will be good too but preferably lower primary. If you guys know of anyone who needs tuition or any contacts please let me know! I am able to start ASAP so just contact me if you need tuition! Rates and timings are negotiable too :)

Till then, lets try to keep our spirits up in whatever we are doing and here's to a good weekend to all of you!

Friday 10 January 2014

Met up with Azimah on Tuesday for the shopping trip that we have planned for a long time! We were finally free from our other commitments and were both back from overseas. Decided to head down to Chic Kiss Love warehouse to check out their items because we have been receiving a lot of email notifications from them hahaha.

The place was relatively easy to locate at least for us with the help of google maps and a bus 67 that takes us to the nearest bus stop.

Honestly speaking though, I would say that this place was a major major disappointment for us. We spent about half an hour there only. Initially, we had really high hopes because we received a whole lot of emails that there will be a massive sale going on with a whole lot of clothes going below $15 and even to as low as $5. Call me naive but I was hoping to grab some steals there because they do have really cheap clothes online! However, when we reached there everything there was going at about $25 and up. Their supposed "sale items" were just two tubs of clothes there and it was really not attractive. Although there were 2 levels, the amount of clothes there was pretty disappointing for me :( Either way, highly doubt the fact that I will return and will most probably just stick to the online store instead. At least there are way more choices for me.

Headed off to Bugis street next! It has been so long since I have been there and there were so many new things in store! Only managed to grab a top though because I have already seen all those clothes in Bangkok and I have a similar version already ;) HEHE.

Meet Azimah!

After Azimah left, I was off to meet my two lovelies, Justina and Desiree! Desiree was finally back from the UK and it was soooo good to see her :) Settled on Steamboat for dinner and it was such good times catching up and teasing Justina as usual. Chilled at Coffee Bean after and played a whole lot of Charades and snapped a bunch of pictures hehe.

Always such a good time with them because they are just so ridiculous and nonsensical that nothing makes sense but a whole lot of laughter is definitely guaranteed :) Desiree is probably on her way back to UK or getting ready to leave by this time, so have a safe trip!!!

Met up with Tess and Rammy for lunch today at Fish & Co! We reached slightly before the lunch crowd so the area was still pretty empty hehe. Been friends with these 2 for six years and glad we are still meeting up and updating each other about our lives now haha. Impromptu decision to watch Frozen after as well and ohmygosh I am soooo glad I finally caught it! I am not exactly a cartoon person so I would not mind giving such shows a pass but since everyone was talking about it, I decided to catch it in the end hehe.

Love love love this movie! Already got me crying at the first part and the entire show was just so beautiful and magical :') Even for someone like me who is not exactly a mad Disney fan, this show is really amazing. And plus, the songs are all so nice! They are already playing as I am typing this this instant hehe. And really, Olaf is the cutest cutest snowman ever!! Pretty sure I am going to download this movie on my laptop and rewatch it some time soon hahaha.

On a sidenote, school is starting on Monday...eew. But then again, at least my timetable this semester is not too bad so I am still pretty glad :) May the new semester be a better one than the first! Fingers crossed!!

Pork Burger Recipe

So was feeling a little bored and sick of the food sold around my house and I decided to get into the kitchen and unleash the domestic goddess within me! wahahaha. Since I don't really cook, decided to start off with a pork patty burger which is easy to make. Found the recipe online but made a little modifications to it to suit our taste.

Finely chopped white onion. I cut up one whole onion but you can vary the amount based on your taste.
 Finely chopped coriander
One egg which needs to be whisked. Will be added to the mixture later so that the patty will not fall apart
 Minced pork
 A small bit of salt
Black pepper. Seasoning can be varied based on your own taste.

Once you have gotten all the ingredients ready, just mix all the ingredients in a big bowl!

Since I am only making for my sis and I, I split the portion into two equal servings. I read online that it is advisable to create an indent in the middle of the patties because it prevents the patty from like ballooning up.
Decided to fry some potatoes to go along with my burger too. Just got to dice the potatoes into small cubes.

Once all your preparation is done, you can begin cooking! I chose to begin with the potatoes cos I wanted my burger to be hot and will then melt the cheese which I will put between the buns.
Add vegetable oil into the frying pan and once the oil has heated up, throw the potatoes in. Lay them out for about 3 minutes.
Flip the potatoes around after they have turned golden brown. Once the potatoes are completely brown and soft, take it out and place it on a piece of kitchen towel so that the excess oil will be absorbed. You can choose to add salt to your potatoes after but it tastes fine without it as well!
Once the patty is in, leave it for about 5 minutes. Due to the thickness of the patty it will take a while for the patty to cook. Try not to flip it over too quickly because since the patty is heavy, it may break apart. One of my patties fell apart because I flipped it too early. The one in picture is the other that remained intact but still a little out of shape because some parts broke off. :( The patties can be cooked longer because of its thickness and it tastes better when cooked longer. I cooked the patties for about 15 to 20 minutes.

While waiting for the patties to cook, butter the buns on both sides. For extra flavour, I grilled the buns for a while too so as to allow the butter to melt and seep into the bread. By grilling the buns, it made the bun crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside and the butter fragrance will spread within the bun too! Yum.

When the buns are done, add a piece of cheese to each bun. You can choose to add other vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers or lettuce etc but since I am not a huge fan of such veggies, none for me HAHA.

The final product! The taste is really better than it looks. And my sister said that it has the Singaporean taste to it hahaha.

It is really easy to cook and provides a very filling and satisfying meal with cheap and convenient ingredients! Haven't really cooked such proper meals in a long time and I think I have rediscovered the joy of grocery shopping alone and eating what you prepared. Maybe it is time for a new hobby!

Happy Family!

Another post that I was extremely excited to blog about and since I have gotten the pictures, it's time! Met up with my amazing CJ girls on Sunday for a sleepover cum Christmas celebration! Decided to hold it in Joce's hall because we will have our own private room which is very convenient and we can also save on rental of any staycation place ;)

Met up with Ram to buy our steamboat groceries and although we thought we didn't buy a lot, we clearly overbought! :( There was sooooo much food we just could not finish. After meeting up with Liting and Ruth, we are off to Joce's place!

Yummy steamboat. I love love loveeeeee steamboat

We had a really long dinner and halfway through Ruth presented to us our gifts that she gave us for Christmas! It was all personalized and very thoughtful. :) Thanks Ruth!!

Received the entire set of old school card games!!! So excited to see it because I used to play these when I was young!
Ram's turn!!
A superman calendar that she nearly got for herself that afternoon!

Joce received this super cute pug mug which is sooo her because she loves pugs HAHAHA.

Liting received this very classy looking music box and the ballerina spins around! Very pretty!

After Ruth gave us our gifts, we decided to move on to our Secret Santa exchange which we were all very excited about HAHA. Had a hard time deciding how should we do the Secret Santa and we decided on passing it to the person on our left, and having that person to open it. Upon opening the gift, we will then guess who each gift is from.

First off, gotta pose with our gifts hehe.

After we have all opened and exchanged our presents, we came to a shocking revelation that our secret Santas were all sitting on our left! Such coincidence haha. And if we had decided to pass the gift to the person on our right, we would have passed it to the person that we were assigned to.
YAY! Happy gift exchange!

Had a sudden tummy ache halfway through dinner and escaped to the toilet. And when I came back, was faced with another surprise from my girls! Entered the room only to see a cake on the floor for me! Really really touched and I was so shocked because I was still holding onto the cake otw here thinking that it was our dessert. Thanks girls!! ♥

Self-timer time!!!

Being very absorbed into our character hahahaha
Presents!!!
Reindeer giving Santa a ride!
Joce trying to look like a box HAHA
Snowman needs to stay in a fridge so won't melt!
I AM A REINDEER!

Played a whole lot of games and charade till 630 before we decided to sleep. HAHA. Always finding ourselves stuck in a 5 people on 2 single beds situation and we will be unable to move. Woke up with stiff bodies and cracking bones but it was all worth it! Thanks for the great belated Christmas celebration guys! We should do it again next year!

MERRY (belated) CHRISTMAS!!
